Beef Prices

When you place an order for beef, in actuality you are purchasing a part or a whole animal.  We raise the beef for you and, as a convenience, we offer to arrange to have the animal processed by a nearby USDA approved meat processing facility.  You will be responsible for the processing fee (typically ranging from about 32 cents to 45 cents per pounds depending on your processing requirements).  Because we raising the beef specifically for you, we request a deposit or down payment. This allows us to plan the amount of beef that we will need to produce during the growing season.  When you pick up the frozen packages of beef, you are charged by the hanging weight.  (Your deposit is deducted from the hanging weight price.)

The cost to purchase one whole beef would be as follows:

Deposit

$200.00

When you pick-up your beef, your bill would be:

About 420 lbs. hanging weight @ $2.00 per lb.

$840.00

About 420 lbs hanging weight @ 55 cents per lb. for processing fee

$231.00

Processor's kill fee ($25.00)

$25.00

Minus Deposit

-$200.00

Your final bill

$896.00

If for some reason we are not able to fill your order, your deposit will be immediately returned to you.

To make the purchase of our beef more affordable, we encourage you to share an order of our beef (whole, half, mixed quarter, or select cut).

A whole beef averages about 300 pounds in package. A side of beef will weigh approximately 150 pounds package weight. A "mixed quarter" will be about 75 pounds. The hanging weight is higher because of the trimming during processing.

Mixed Quarter

A "mixed quarter" is approximately 75 pounds of beef that is a combination of cuts from both the front and rear quarters of a beef. Because so many of the more choice cuts are found in the rear quarter, it is the most popular. However, because we have been unsuccessful in locating a breed that grows out with 4 rear quarters, we offer a mixed quarter as an alternative. (We did not seriously spend much time trying to locate a breed with this characteristic!)

If you find that we desire only the more choice rear quarter cuts, please investigate our "Select Cuts" as an alternative.
